CAMERON, WI - Everything you’ve heard is true: 25 track champions and numerous state champions.

Those stats help explain why Adams Automotive of Cameron, WI, has been called home of the “Meanest Motors of WISSOTA,” and you can’t argue that after seeing the numbers put up by competitors using Adams Automotive powerplants during the 2008 racing season.

Owner Dave Adams, a veteran driver himself with 30-plus years of racing and engine building experience, knows what it takes to build durable and fast race engines.

“We don’t do anything tricky or try parts we haven’t used,” Adams said. “We know what produces good, dependable horsepower and we stick with it.”

And good, dependable power is what it takes for drivers to win 25 track championships and numerous state titles in a season.

Nearly all WISSOTA competitors are familiar with the name Kevin Adams. Buzzy, as he likes to be called, is the son of Dave Adams. He’s been a strong WISSOTA competitor for 12 years and has notched his name in the WISSOTA record books as the 2003 Super Stock national champion, the 2008 WISSOTA Modified national champion and a four-time winner of the WISSOTA 100.

“We use Buzzy for a lot of testing and experimentation with new parts as we build the best and fastest engines possible,” Dave said.

Adams shares the engineering and machining with Todd Manley, who also does research and development and much of the assembly. Vance Eastman is the cylinder head expert and Barry Stout does tear down, preps engines for reassembly, mills blocks and builds HEI distributors. Manley, Eastman and Stout, along with Dave Adams, account for the vital work that makes up a powerful and durable racing engine.

“When people call us for the first time to check out our program and prices for Super Stock, Street Stock, Midwest Modified, Modified spec and Late Model engines, they’re usually surprised at how much motor they can get for the money,” Adams said. “We have fast, economical packages for all classes.”

Dave and Todd will again be making their annual visit to North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana and Wyoming in late February and early March to deliver race engines. If anyone is interested in saving some dollars and miles, you are encouraged to call Dave to arrange for pickup or delivery of your engine.

Adams Automotive has designed a new carburetor and adapter plate, strictly for their new Street Stock, Super Stock, and Midwest Mod engines, for sale only with one of those engines.

Along with Street Stock and Super Stock engines, Adams also builds powerful Midwest Modified engines.

“Our Midwest Modified program really took off in 2008 winning track championships and state championships with drivers all over the WISSOTA region,” Adams said.

Adams Automotive doesn’t forget the BIG DOGS. They also build fierce Modified and Late Model engines. Adams Automotive has a new spec engine package for 2008 that will raise some eyebrows.

Because of Adams Automotive’s buying power with the brand name companies, they are able to offer a spec or Late Model engine for a very competitive price, with parts like a Dart block, Callies crank and rods, Diamond pistons, Isky rollers, Ferrea valves and springs, Champ Pans, Melling pumps and shaft rocker arms. For 2009, Adams Automotive is offering a spec engine to Modified customers for $11,450. Adams is also offering an economical version of that engine for $9,500. Call Dave for more information.

“We encourage everyone who wants a new engine, or anyone who wants their engine refreshed for the 2009 season to call soon because we are already busy getting ready for next year,” Adams said. “Change the one you have now into an Adams.”

To order an Adams Automotive engine or to make an appointment to bring your engine in to be refreshed, Dave Adams can be reached Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at (715) 458-2985. His shop is located at 401 W. Poplar Ave., Cameron, WI, 54822.
